The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) recently established a data sharing agreement with the Swedish Football Federation (SvFF). SvFF is the body that manages soccer in the European country.
The goal of SvFF is to ensure that local soccer always complies with the laws and regulations that govern all sporting events and entities within its competence. In addition, the entity works constantly to ensure that the sport is free from discrimination, specifically at its national level.
This data sharing agreement is the latest in a series of other high-level arrangements that have been signed by MGA in recent months.
The main new partnerships were signed with the Malta Soccer Association, the Tennis Integrity Unit, the International Cricket Council and the International Olympic Committee.
After all, the fight against fraud and manipulation in sports depends on cooperation and the effective exchange of information. As such, MGA’s sports integrity manager, Antonio Zerafa, assessed the deal with Sweden’s top soccer institution.
“The data sharing contract between the Malta Gaming Authority and the Swedish Soccer Federation allows the relationship between the two entities to be limited not only to discussions of best practices, but also to provide the transfer of data related to manipulation investigations in competitions sports”.
Zerafa added: “Undoubtedly, this further reinforces MGA’s commitment to helping governing bodies related to sport in the fight against fraud in the results”.

The Malta Gaming Authority is Malta’s gaming control board.
MGA regulates most forms of gambling in the country, including casinos, slot machines, bookmakers, fantasy sports, lotteries and online gambling services. The entity was created in 2001.
