The Catalan Superior Court of Justice (TSJC) has lifted the obligation for bars, restaurants and casinos to close at midnight.
However, the court rejected the reopening of nightclubs, which represented another blow to the nightlife sector that has been severely affected by the new coronavirus pandemic.
End of casinos closing time
Section 2 of the Administrative Disputes Chamber confirmed, in part, the appeal of the Catalan Federation of Restoration Associations and Musical Activities (Fecasarm) against the resolution published by the Government on July 24, with some containment measures by Covid-19 .
The magistrates did not accept the justification that “there will be a greater transmission of the virus depending on the closing time” and stressed that the authorities have other mechanisms to prevent people from moving.
Therefore, when evaluating the appeal regarding nightlife in Catalonia, the measure that ordered the closing of games rooms, casinos and bingo halls throughout Catalonia at midnight was also suspended.
