Technology company Genius Sports has signed an exclusive broadcast and data rights agreement with B.League, the professional basketball regulator in Japan. The multi-year agreement will allow Genius Sports to capture and distribute the league’s official data and video content for your network of sports betting operators.
As part of the deal, the FIBA LiveStats data collector will collect statistics for more than 1,000 games per season in the two divisions, B1 and B2. The data will also be used by B.League to provide its rights holders and media partners with statistics on various platforms.
By automating the production and distribution of streaming, GeniusLive allows sports to extend their reach and attract new fans around the world. Thus, the company hopes to help leverage B.League’s growth trajectory. League revenues increased between 2016-17 and 2018-19.
Thomas Klingebiel, commercial director for Asia Pacific for Genius Sports, said: “Amid the huge challenges that sports have faced in the past 12 months, rights holders are looking for innovative platforms to reconnect with fans and generate new revenue streams ”.
Klingebiel added: “Together, FIBA LiveStats and GeniusLive will enable B.League to control their live data and video content, transforming the way audiences around the world interact with each game.”
