Six casino operators will sponsor Macau Grand Prix races

Six casino operators will each sponsor one race at the 68th Macau Grand Prix, which is scheduled to run from November 9th to 21st, with no overseas sponsors or riders.

SJM, Sands China, Galaxy Entertainment, Melco, MGM and Wynn were announced as this year’s sponsors during a press conference held by the Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee.

As Macau seeks to normalize the situation and ease restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic, event organizers chose to proceed with the Grand Prix in hopes that it “sends a clear message and demonstrates that Macau is a vibrant and safe city. to visit”.

In an official note, the Organizing Committee stated: “The positive effects associated with the Grand Prix serve to promote the development of different sectors and thus boost the economy. In addition, the annual Grand Prix will be broadcast to countries and regions in the mainland and abroad, in order to positively promote the image of Macau”.

However, this year’s competition will feature several changes caused by Covid-19, mainly, there will be no teams from outside Macau, Hong Kong or China, and the event will not have a master sponsor.

Each casino will name one of the Macau Grand Prix races

Instead, the six licensed casinos will support one race each, which will be named after their respective partner. Therefore, the events of this edition will be the following: SJM Formula 4 Macau Grand Prix, Sands China Macau GT Cup, Galaxy Entertainment Macau Guia Race, Melco Macau Touring Car Cup, MGM Greater Bay Area GT Cup and Wynn Porsche Carrera Cup Challenge.

In addition, safety, medical, rescue and work vehicles for this year’s Grand Prix will be sponsored by BMW Concessionaires, while Macau Industrial will be the official beverage sponsor of the event.
