Inspired signs contract with MLBPAA to launch new baseball game

Inspired Entertainment has announced an exclusive agreement with the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) to commercially exploit the MLBPAA name, brand, image and member players worldwide.

Inspired intends to use the latest in motion-capture technology to bring the MLBPAA stars to life by offering a “Home Run Shoot Out” experience, a virtual hitting competition, which can be licensed to all fans of MLBPAA Inspired’s virtual sports, both online and in stores.

“We are delighted to announce our partnership with MLBPAA, which allows us to produce the first set of entertainment products with the brand and images of its members,” said Brooks Pierce, President and COO of Inspired Entertainment.

Pierce continued: “Fans will love rooting for their favorite stars of all time, creating an exciting and competitive experience. We’ve had great success with our NFLA Legends of Football game and we’re looking forward to taking it even further with Home Run Shoot Out.”

Inspired seeks to recreate action from the most popular sports on the planet

As a pioneer in virtual sports, Inspired has been recreating the action of the world’s most popular sports for over 15 years. The virtual baseball game “Home Run Shoot Out” will feature some of the game’s legends, including Hall of Fame baseball hitters Mike Schmidt, Reggie Jackson and Al Kaline, as well as other former players.

Fans will be able to see some of the biggest names in baseball history in a hitting competition, in which they can bet in different ways, such as the winning player, total number of home runs, correct score and other possibilities.

Pierce stated: “Fans will now have the opportunity to see the greatest players in history compete against the next generation hitters. The game will initially have a single game format, but we are also developing a knockout/tournament format with an overall winner and we aim to continually introduce new legends to the game”.

MLBPAA membership currently stands at more than 8,600 former Major League Baseball players. “As a recognized and award-winning leader in virtual sports, Inspired is the perfect partner for the MLBPAA and our members,” said MLBPAA President Brooks Robinson.

Robinson added: “We are always looking for new and different channels to expand our reach, help our members and help our local communities. This partnership with Inspired fits well with our core mission. The Home Run Shoot Out game will help position the legends of the world. MLBPAA for their brands to grow, adopt technology and remain in the minds of their fans”.

A non-profit organization, the MLBPAA was formed to promote baseball, raise money for charities, inspire and educate young people with positive sporting images, and protect the dignity of the game through former players.
