Last week we had BiS SiGMA Americas – the biggest betting event in Latin America. The conference took place between June 14th and 18th and was a great opportunity for companies to better understand the Brazilian market. iGaming Brazil provided full coverage of the event and had the opportunity to talk to big names in the sector, such as Valter Delfraro, Government Relations and Development Executive at GLI.
In the conversation, Valter highlighted the importance of certification for the sector: “Certification is one of the most important elements that exist to be able to support the entire industry and start designing all the practices that can be used in the regulated market”.
“It [certification] allows the market to have the security that the games, which are certified, are those that are implemented in their proper jurisdictions”, he added.
Delfraro also commented on what good regulation is. “What can we say about regulation well done? It is that regulation where all the needs and technical requirements that will guarantee solidity for the jurisdiction are looked at”
When asked whether regulation will help with responsible gambling, Delfraro said, “[Regulation] will not only help, but demand that it be implemented. Responsible gaming is the method we have to ‘break the leg’ of those who say that a jurisdiction does not care about gambling addiction”.
Valter also spoke about BiS SiGMA Americas, highlighting how important the conference was for Brazil. “The event was extremely important, not only for us [GLI], but for the industry and for Brazil, an event of this size takes our country and our industry to another level”.
