ICE London 2024 represents the end of a great phase for the iGaming market. For Thomas Carvalhaes, the predominant feeling this year was nostalgia due to the fair moving to Barcelona, Spain, from 2025.
“ICE London impacted everyone who works in the sector and is already generating anxiety about its continuity in Barcelona. A feeling of nostalgia for it being over”, he stated in an exclusive interview with the portal.
“I believe that decision makers, executives and anyone else involved with the betting market in Brazil are here (event)”, he added.
Brazilian market regulation
One of the most debated topics at ExCeL London was the new moment in the Brazilian iGaming market due to the approval of regulations.
For Carvalhaes, “the market is very optimistic. There was progress on the part of the government, authorities and future regulatory bodies.”
“Credit needs to be given to the government for making it happen. We’ve been waiting for this for some time. What is missing now are ordinances, regulations and the opening of accreditation so that operators can apply for a license”, he added.
According to the expert, the first phase of accreditation is scheduled to begin in March.
New Cicle
Furthermore, Thomas Carvalhaes revealed that he is in a moment of professional transition. “I worked as an operator for 12 years, my entire career in iGaming was as an operator. I think it is an opportune time for this transition”, he explained.
“It is a very recognized platform in Europe, with a lot of potential and a very good reputation. Many world-class operators are already using this GR8 Tech technology. My mission will be to bring this technology to Brazil, Latin America and, eventually, markets in the United States”, he concluded.
