São Paulo will begin its journey in the Copa Libertadores 2024 this Thursday, in a clash against Talleres, in Argentina. Now, bringing with it a significant novelty: Konami, a new brand printed on the players’ shirts.
The game developer has reached an agreement with the club, which will see its logo adorn the shirt numbers worn by São Paulo athletes.
This sponsorship will become visible through the use of the eFootball brand, the main title in the Japanese company’s portfolio.
According to information published by the UOL portal, São Paulo will guarantee a financial contribution of around R$2 million. The contract covers the period until December this year.
With the inclusion of Konami, São Paulo has a total of five brands printed on its uniform.
In addition to newcomer Konami, the list includes Superbet (master sponsor and printed on the back), Ademicon (positioned on the left side of the chest), ABC da Construção (located on the back of the shorts) and New Balance (supplier of sports equipment) .
New marketing focus for São Paulo
With the achievement of this new agreement, the focus of São Paulo marketing now turns to the area of shirt sleeves. As such, it is one of the most valuable properties of the uniform, which has remained devoid of sponsorship since Bitso’s departure at the end of last year.
São Paulo plans to take advantage of the visibility that returning to this year’s Copa Libertadores will provide. The club’s tradition and prestige in the tournament will serve as an effective means to achieve this goal.
