Casino brand Rollbit has strengthened its presence in the world of football by becoming the official sponsor of Southampton Football Club. This agreement strengthens the gaming company’s visibility, especially after the team’s promotion to the Premier League (English first division).
With the crypto casino logo now displayed on the front of the men’s team’s shirts and at St Mary’s stadium, Rollbit gains significant exposure.
According to Sam Norman, Head of Partnerships at Rollbit, “Rollbit is delighted to announce its latest partnership with Southampton FC, following their incredible victory in the playoff final.”
Norman highlighted that Southampton is seen as the ideal partner for this new phase. “We believe Southampton is the perfect club to embark on this journey as we look to continue to expand our presence globally with one of the Premier League’s most respected teams.
We believe in the club’s vision that embodies our commitment to innovation and excellence and we look forward to cheering with Saints fans everywhere in this exciting next chapter for Southampton.”
Increasing presence in sport with support from Southampton FC
The sponsorship with Southampton FC expands Rollbit’s presence on the sporting scene. The company had already signed similar agreements with Italian Championship football club Napoli and FaZe Clan, one of the biggest eSports teams in the world.
Greg Baker, Chief Revenue Officer at Southampton Football Club, commented on the new partnership: “We are delighted to welcome Rollbit, a leader in the online gaming space, to the Saints family as our official shirt partner.
This partnership marks a dynamic fusion of technology and sport at an exciting time for the club as we embark on our journey back to the Premier League. Together, we hope to create unforgettable moments for our fans.”
Football sponsorship trends
The deal with Southampton follows a growing trend of online casino operators partnering with clubs in the top flight of English football.
Stake.com has a deal with Everton, while BC.Game has formed a partnership with Leicester, who were also recently promoted.
In short, these recent agreements come before the implementation of a voluntary ban on front-of-shirt betting sponsorships. This measure is scheduled for the end of the 2025/26 season.
Former culture secretary, Lucy Frazer, emphasized the importance of this measure by stating: “The vast majority of adults play it safe. However, we have to recognize that football players are role models who have a huge influence on young people. We want to work with institutions like the Premier League to do the right thing for young fans.”
