SBC Summit in Lisbon had a strong presence of Brazilians

SBC Summit em Lisboa contou com forte presença de brasileiros

The SBC Summit 2024, which took place this week in Lisbon, Portugal, is considered one of the biggest meetings in the betting and casino platform segment. The event began on Tuesday (24) and ended on Thursday night (26), bringing together more than 25,000 professionals, 600 exhibitors and 450 speakers.

Hundreds of betting companies were present from all over the planet and from countries that already have regulation in place, such as the United Kingdom, which is seen as a reference on this issue, Spain and Italy, with regulated markets for over 10 years, and some from Latin America and which are also considered examples, such as the United States, Colombia and Argentina.

Responsible for Brazilian regulation, José Manssur was one of the speakers at the SBC Summit Lisboa

José Francisco Manssur, partner at CSMV Advogados, was among the speakers, and exchanged experiences with Portuguese people about the qualities and obstacles of regulation in Brazil, Portugal and Spain.

“The SBC is a global event that brings together the industry in lectures and exhibitions. For the first time, Brazil appears as a regulated industry and, as has happened in previous events, as a protagonist given the size of its consumer market”, he stated.

Manssur served as a special advisor to the Executive Secretariat of the Ministry of Treasury, in 2023, being one of the main people responsible for being at the forefront of drafting the rules for the fixed-odd betting sector in Brazil.

Brazilian presence in Lisbon

For Ricardo Bianco Rosada, founder of the consultancy brmkt.co, and specialist in the gambling, industry, retail and services market, and with stints as CMO in brands such as Betboo, Bodog and galera.bet, Brazil is already seen by other countries as a powerhouse in the sector.

“Presence is crucial for professionals in the Brazilian betting market, as it is in the regulatory phase, and this allows connection with global leaders, valuable insights and networking, accelerating adaptation to the Brazilian regulatory and competitive scenario”, highlighted Rosada.

Marcos Sabiá, CEO of galera.bet, who has been at the forefront of the regulatory process in the country, and more intensely since the beginning of 2023, when conversations around the topic began in this government, also attended the event.

“We are experiencing a complex scenario in Brazil with a long period of time since the legalization that took place in 2018 and the regulation of the sector only now. At this event it is possible to see how industry executives see regulation in Brazil as a watershed for the sector” , concluded Sabiá.

It is worth noting that SBC Lisboa opened space for several panels on the Brazilian market, with the presence of industry players and personalities, as well as serving as a stage for the official launch of Jobs.Bet within the Brazilian Lounge space.
