A single bet from São Paulo won the 6689th Quina contest, which was drawn on Tuesday night (25). A bet made in the city of Capivari, in the interior of the state, matched the five numbers and took home the main prize of R$12 million.

According to Caixa, the numbers drawn in the lottery were: 23 – 07 – 56 – 24 – 55.

4 hits 117 winning bets, R$4,775.70

Chances of winning the Quina prize

With a minimum bet of five numbers (worth R$2.50), the bettor has just one chance in 24 million of getting them all right and taking home the biggest Quina prize.

If you add another ten to the game, the price of the bet goes up to R$15, but the odds increase considerably. This means that the chances of winning the lottery are now one in four million.

If I win the Quina and don’t claim the prize, where does the money go?

If a lucky winner of the Caixa Quina contest wins some amount, they must claim it at a lottery house or Caixa agency.

If this does not happen, the prize expires (i.e. loses the right of withdrawal) 90 days after the date of the draw.

However, after this three-month period, the amounts are transferred to the National Treasury for application in the Higher Education Student Financing Fund (FIES).

Largest prize ever paid in history

The biggest prize in Quina history, paid in 2020, was R$143.1 million. While Quina de São João, held in June, paid out R$204.8 million in 2023.

And it’s not just the impact on the winners. Quina has economic relevance for the country. In 2024, Caixa Lotteries raised more than R$20 billion and approximately 40% of this amount was directed to social programs.
