Flamengo recently adopted a new code of conduct for its athletes, focusing on preventing gambling and doping-related infractions. Inspired by European models, the code seeks to align athletes’ practices with strict sporting standards.
At an event, the club’s legal department gave a talk to the players, explaining in detail the relevant sports legislation. The rules introduced are a reaction to past incidents, such as investigations into betting related to Lucas Paquetá and Bruno Henrique.
Furthermore, the doping history of players such as Paolo Guerrero and Gabigol highlighted the need for more robust preventive measures.
In accordance with the European model, which is already part of the contracts of athletes in international clubs, Flamengo will decide to implement these guidelines for its stars as well.
The club’s lawyers highlighted specific cases, indicating that Lucas Paquetá is under investigation by the English FA for alleged involvement in betting schemes. In addition, in 2023, Bruno Henrique was investigated by the Federal Police for a similar case.
This move represents a significant step in Flamengo’s attempt to safeguard sporting integrity and ensure that its athletes respect current regulations.
The club believes that, through these strategies, it will be possible to prevent future infractions and maintain Flamengo’s prestige both nationally and internationally.
