The New York State Gaming Commission recently released mobile sports betting figures for the period between April 2024 and March 2025. The figures reveal significant growth in the industry.

The mobile sports betting market in New York saw an impressive 20% increase year-on-year. As a result, total volume reached $23.9 billion, while gross gaming revenue (GGR) reached $2.14 billion.

January stood out as the best performing month for sports betting. This was likely due to the increased activity leading up to Super Bowl LIX. During this period, the industry recorded $2.48 billion in revenue.

March followed suit with equally robust numbers, with $2.44 billion in revenue. In addition, other months demonstrated strong performance, including December ($2.28 billion), November ($2.27 billion) and October ($2.32 billion).

However, when we look specifically at GGR, after January, the months that stood out were November (US$231.6 million), September (US$204.7 million) and May (US$203.3 million).

The New York Gaming Commission also reported that an additional $23.3 million came from prior adjustments, fines and penalties. Of that amount, a significant portion is likely related to the $17.5 million fine levied solely on Underdog.

Of the total raised, US$1.11 billion will be earmarked to support education in the state. This amount includes US$6 million for education and treatment of gambling, as well as US$5 million for sports programs for vulnerable youth.

The continued growth of this sector therefore demonstrates the consolidation of mobile sports betting as an important source of revenue for educational and social initiatives in New York.
