São Paulo and Viva Sorte have terminated a sponsorship contract. The brand did not appear on the team’s shirt in the victory over Santos, this Sunday (20), in the fifth round of the Brasileirão. The club and Viva Sorte agreed on the agreement in 2024, and it was supposed to end at the end of the 2026 season.

Viva Sorte was on the shoulders of the training and match shirts, with the Viva Tricolor logo. However, the brand was replaced by the logo of the “Consórcio do São Paulo FC”. According to the note released by São Paulo, the board confirmed the end of the partnership. In addition, the club also ended joint projects, such as a product aimed at fans that shared the revenues with Tricolor.

As reported by the “ge” portal, one of the reasons for the split was a possible conflict of interests between Viva Sorte and Superbet, the current master sponsor of São Paulo. In January of this year, the former partner launched its own betting platform, which had been generating internal problems.

The board also reported that it intends to charge the fine stipulated in the contract and, if it cannot reach an agreement, it will take the case to court.

The contract with Viva Sorte was estimated to be worth R$45 million, according to the Poder360 portal. By the end of 2024, the club had received R$7.8 million from the company.

In the following two years, São Paulo would receive R$18.6 million per season, paid in monthly installments of R$1.6 million. With the termination, Tricolor will no longer receive around R$30.8 million.

Official note from Sao Paulo

“São Paulo Futebol Clube informs that it has terminated the sponsorship contract with the company Viva Sorte, which printed the brand ‘Viva Tricolor’ on the Club’s uniforms, as of today (17/4).

“With immediate effect, the brand will no longer appear on the Club’s shirt, and São Paulo will also cease exploitation of the other properties provided for in the agreement.”

“SPFC will take the necessary measures to preserve its interests and guarantee its rights after the end of the partnership.”
