The Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Federal District and Territories (MPDFT) is investigating the case of Flamengo striker Bruno Henrique. Now, the ministry wants to know if the player hid evidence on his cell phone, in the case that is investigating an alleged scheme to favor bettors. Bruno Henrique is being indicted for fraud and fraud in a sports competition.

The messages presented in the indictment by the Federal Police (PF) must undergo a new analysis. In addition, all the material collected in the investigation will also undergo expert analysis by the Special Task Force to Combat Organized Crime (Gaeco).

According to the Metrópoles website, the Federal Police searched the contents of the athlete’s cell phone. However, the verification indicates that some of the conversations may have been deleted. According to the report, Bruno Henrique had 3,989 conversations on WhatsApp, and some messages may have been deleted.

Prosecutors want to further investigate to see if messages were actually deleted. In this way, the action could be considered an attempt to conceal evidence.

More robust analysis

The prosecutors’ assessment is that, in order to ensure a solid analysis, it is necessary to go beyond the PF report and examine all the content extracted from the devices. This is because the attacker, his family members and the group of gamblers were the targets of a joint operation between the two agencies.

According to information, the possibility of offering a deal to the attacker no longer exists. This occurs, according to the PF indictment, because the crimes attributed to him do not meet the criteria for the Non-Prosecution Agreement (ANPP). Such an agreement is restricted to crimes with a minimum sentence of less than four years.

The PF continues its investigations, now focusing on bets made by the criminal group at the Blaze sportsbook.

Sportsbook contacted the Federal Police regarding bets on Bruno Henrique’s card

According to information from the process, sportsbooks indicated to the PF that more than 95% of the bets on the match between Flamengo and Santos, for the 2023 Brazilian Championship, were focused on the possibility of striker Bruno Henrique receiving a yellow card.

The sportsbooks Betano, GaleraBet and KTO, informed that the majority of the volume bet, even before the start of the match, was directed towards punishing the player.

Betano informed the Federal Police that 98% of the bets were on Bruno Henrique’s card. GaleraBet reported a concentration of 95% on the same item. KTO confirmed that significant bets were directed at the athlete, although it did not specify the percentages.

Despite the movement, one of the bets made by the striker’s brother, Wander Nunes Pinto Júnior, was blocked for withdrawal by one of the platforms. The reason, according to the house, was the identification of suspicious activity due to the unusual volume of bets on the penalty for the red-black player.
