FIFA reaffirms commitment to integrity in football

FIFA, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders in the field of integrity, has strengthened its commitment to transparency in football.

During productive conversations held at FIFA headquarters, the possibility of establishing a permanent body dedicated to integrity was discussed.

In this way, demonstrating FIFA’s main objective of protecting and promoting the integrity of sport.

The meeting at the institution’s headquarters brought together representatives of the main contributors to the recent integrity task forces.


Such as INTERPOL, Council of Europe, Copenhagen Group, Sportradar, United Lotteries for Integrity in Sports and International Betting Integrity Association. In addition to organizations such as the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the FBI.

The aim is to institutionalize a permanent task force that acts as a guardian of the integrity of football, overseeing an increasing number of competitions and carrying out real-time monitoring of betting markets during FIFA tournaments, thus supporting the investigation of suspicious activity in relation to game manipulation.

FIFA Integrity

FIFA has adopted an effective approach in combating all forms of manipulation and/or illegal influence in football matches or competitions.

The fundamental principles of the institution’s initiative are the promotion of integrity and protection of sporting events.

In other words, this means promoting integrity internally and vis-à-vis the public at all times, as well as protecting football games and competitions against match-fixing.

Within FIFA’s Legal and Compliance Division, the institution has simplified and optimized its internal structures by creating FIFA Integrity.

The department is responsible for implementing the football governing body’s integrity initiative, conducting preliminary investigations related to match manipulation and integrity.

Additionally, engaging with various partners in order to expand your network, as well as helping member associations and confederations develop their own integrity initiatives.
