The sportsbook Esportes da Sorte, sponsor of Corinthians, is trying to solve problems to maintain its operation in Brazil. In an official note, the company confirmed that it has operating authorization validated by the Rio de Janeiro State Lottery (Loterj).
The state authorization lasts for five years, but the company still needs new authorizations to operate nationwide.
The future of Esportes da Sorte at Corinthians
Esportes da Sorte has until Thursday (10) to regularize its situation with the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets of the Ministry of Finance (SPA-MF) and be released to operate throughout the country.
ESPN found that Corinthians is waiting for the bookmaker to have all the authorization to resume operations. The situation has an important impact even on Memphis Depay, a major signing for the São Paulo team, who has a large part of his salaries paid by Esportes da Sorte.
In July, Corinthians signed a three-year contract with Esportes da Sorte, worth R$309 million, including R$57 million for the signing of Dutchman Memphis Depay. The company also displays its logo on women’s football, futsal and basketball.
If the bookmaker does not honor its contract, Corinthians will need to look for alternatives to pay the striker’s salary. The club has already paid all of the squad’s October salaries, including that of Memphis. In other words, you still have time to study the next steps in case of a problem with Esportes da Sorte.
The contract between Corinthians and the bookmaker provides for a fine of R$100 million, as reported by UOL.
Corinthians receives surveys from other companies
In any case, Corinthians has been working together to resolve the situation. The club has also been approached by two other companies that presented themselves as interested in taking over the Esportes da Sorte space.
Interested companies are already aware that the contract will have to be for similar values, including the Memphis Depay “package”. One of the companies is in the betting segment and is already part of the list of bets authorized to operate in Brazil. The second is from another branch.

The Rio de Janeiro State Lottery (Loterj) also commented, reinforcing the note sent by the betting company.
“LOTERJ informs that Esportes Gaming Brasil, owner of the Esportes da Sorte brand, has become controlling partner of ST Soft Desenvolvimento de Programa de Computadores Ltda, owner of the Apostou platform, accredited by LOTERJ since November 2023.
Due to the corporate change, ST Soft requested authorization to replace the current domain (rj.apostau) with the new ones (esportesdasorte and onabet), maintaining the conditions for authorization for operation.
After analyzing the documentation, LOTERJ verified that the company complied with the legal requirements, including Legal Qualification, Tax and Labor Regularity, Economic-Financial Qualification and Technical Qualification, in addition to presenting the required certificates of suitability.
