GambleAware launches interactive maps to combat the risks of excessive gambling in the UK

GambleAware has released interactive maps that can identify the use and demand for help related to gambling damage in the UK. The maps highlight the areas that have the greatest acceptance of support to deal with these problems, while indicating which regions report the highest demand for these services.

Therefore, GambleAware uses its detailed research to produce these maps. The survey provides the charity with an overview of the demand and use of treatment for excessive gambling problems.

The survey also points out the differences in game activity by area. From there, GambleAware can use its maps to report responses from local authorities. In addition, the entity recommends that the responsible bodies use the maps in conjunction with local data on the damage of the game.

In places where there is a greater demand for treatment for gambling-related risks, the institution suggests what local authorities should do to further promote the help available through the National Gambling Treatment Service.

GambleAware’s Director of Research, Information and Knowledge, Alison Clare, said: “We want to help local authorities and services to provide the best possible treatment and support for gambling damage in your area.”

Clare added: “These new interactive maps can be used to identify gaps between treatment and support services and the prevalence of gameplay and damage, which can be used to inform local responses. The support available through the National Gambling Treatment Service can be used to help address these deficiencies. ”
