The Entain Foundation has extended its partnership with sports organization SportsAid to provide funding to British athletes until the 2024 Paralympic and Olympic Games in Paris.
Entain will double its support for SportsAid, bringing its financial commitment to around £500,000 by 2024. Around a quarter of Entain-SportsAid partnership beneficiaries are para-athletes, while 165 of the current UK team’s 227 members in the Paralympics received financial support from the institution throughout their careers.
“Following the incredible performance of British athletes at this year’s Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo, we are pleased to extend our partnership with SportsAid for another three years,” said Grainne Hurst, Director of Corporate Affairs, Entain Group.
Grainne Hurst added: “Our collaboration with SportsAid is a great pride for everyone at Entain and plays a key role in supporting the next generation of British sports heroes.”
Entain signed an agreement with the institution for the first time in 2018
Entain first partnered with the charity in 2018 and supports 50 athletes a year in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, providing financial support to contribute to training, competition, equipment and travel costs.
Tim Lawler, CEO of SportsAid, commented: “Entain’s extended commitment will take us to the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2024 and comes at a very important time for talented young athletes – especially after a challenging period over the past 18 months.”
Lawler added: “Our partnership with Entain has continued to evolve year after year and the comprehensive support provided to these young aspiring sports stars gives them more confidence and motivation to pursue their ambitions. We’ve also seen greater awareness of SportsAid and a much wider audience is hearing the stories behind the next generation of sports heroes.”
