An own goal made last Sunday, 4th, in the duel between Atlético-AM and Sul América, at the Carlos Zamith stadium, for Série B of the Amazonense Championship, raised suspicions of a possible case involving manipulation of results and sports betting.
Midfielder Júlio Campos was the one who scored the own goal in the 44th minute of the second half, when his team, Atlético-AM, was losing 3-1. In a common move, the midfielder receives the goalkeeper’s pass and simply turns around towards your goal by performing a direct kick. The team showed no reaction.
In a note, Atlético-AM states that it is against this type of unsportsmanlike attitude and will investigate the case, also emphasizing that those involved were disconnected, check below:
Atlético Amazonense goes public to inform you that it does not condone unsportsmanlike attitudes, we will open an internal procedure to investigate the facts in the game against Sul América, those involved have already been disconnected from the club.

The current president of the Amazonas Football Federation (FAF), Pedro Augusto, said that the entity follows the matches in a statistical way, but that it does not have its own system or company to investigate possible manipulation of results and sports betting. Pedro says that the case will be investigated in detail:
“In this case, the federation is informing the TJD (Sports Court of Justice) about the fact, denouncing the player. If he will have isolated guilt, with other players or the club itself. We will inform the Civil Police. , to find out if there are possibilities to hear and investigate this as well. Because football is an intangible heritage”.
“We will inform the control bodies. The FAF will also carry out the investigations and, if necessary, open an administrative process for disaffiliation from the entity if collective connivance is proven. Or banning the athlete upon complaint to the TJD, if the case, of football”, added the president.

The Amazonense Football Federation regrets and repudiates the fact that happened in the match between Atlético Amazonense and Sul América, valid for the Amazonense Football Championship Series B 2022. This fact does not represent what our institution defends.
It informs that it will adopt all legal and sporting measures within its reach and will communicate the control sports entities for the investigations that fall within their competence.
