Palmeiras is in talks with Sportingbet to become the new master sponsor of the men’s team.
The proposal presented by the bookmaker is considered the best for the board, which is seeking an agreement in the range of R$150 million annually. Thus, the value could reach R$170 million, if some targets are met.
Sportingbet can replace the sponsorship of Crefisa and FAM on Palmeiras’ shirt
The president of Palmeiras, Leila Pereira, expressed some hesitation in accepting a national bookmaker as the main sponsor. In any case, Leila recognizes Sportingbet as a reputable brand.
To date, negotiations with other Brazilian bookmakers have not progressed. Betnacional, which offered R$100 million annually, is still awaiting feedback from the board.
Another point raised by Leila is that her companies, Crefisa and FAM, may withdraw from sponsorship after ten years. Therefore, she emphasized the importance of finding new strategic partners for the club.
The current contract with Crefisa and FAM guarantees a fixed R$81 million per season and can reach up to R$120 million. However, this amount is considered to be out of date compared to what other clubs are receiving.
Thus, Palmeiras finds itself with the following scenario:
- Current contract with Crefisa and FAM: fixed R$81 million
- Maximum possibility: R$120 million
- Betnacional offer: R$100 million annually
Verdão should announce new sponsor soon
Sportingbet already sponsors Conmebol and is seeking authorization to operate in Brazil. Therefore, with new regulations expected for next year, bookmakers will need to be based in the country. In addition, they must pay a grant of up to R$30 million.
The Nosso Palestra portal reported that Esportes da Sorte, current master sponsor of the Palmeiras women’s team and Corinthians football, made a proposal of R$310 million, in addition to bonuses, to sponsor Verdão men’s football for three years.
This amount exceeds that paid to Corinthians for the same period. However, Esportes da Sorte, through its advisors, denied sending any master sponsorship proposal to Palmeiras.
The alviverde club is expected to announce its new partner soon, before the presidential contest. Leila Pereira is the favorite to continue in charge of Palmeiras, but will face an opposition ticket.
