Melco Resorts and Entertainment Ltd announced that its integrated City of Dreams Mediterranean resort will open in the summer of 2022 in Cyprus.
The project, located in Limassol, was developed to be the largest integrated resort in Europe and was due to open its doors in late 2021, but the opening was delayed due to the pandemic of the new coronavirus.
The project includes a 16-story five-star hotel with approximately 500 rooms, an open-air amphitheater, an adventure park and several commercial and food establishments. The property also has 10,000 square meters of space for meetings, conferences and exhibitions.
“Construction work is progressing smoothly, and while the Covid-19 outbreak impacted our original schedule, we remain committed to this innovative project,” said Grant Johnson, general property manager for City of Dreams Mediterranean and Cyprus Casinos.
He added: “Our goal is to establish a unique destination, offering a premium entertainment experience to our guests, creating real value for the country’s economy and society. The City of Dreams Mediterranean aims to enrich the tourist landscape of Cyprus, attracting more than 300,000 visitors a year to the island ”
In the official statement, the company expressed confidence that the casino-resort will help make up for the recent lack of tourism in Cyprus, as well as creating thousands of new jobs.
