The Malaysian government has had its Movement Control Order (MCO) in operation for several months, but now officials say additional restrictions are being applied to tighten standard operating procedures, halting operations at Resorts World Genting (RWG).
The new MCO 3.0, announced on May 10, will force more people to work from home and limit business hours.
At a joint press conference, it was outlined that 80% of public sector workers and 40% of private sector workers will be forced to work from home. Companies in Malaysia will also have to comply with restrictions on operating between 8 am and 8 pm only.
Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said: “Our strategy is to reduce the movement, reducing the number of people working as officers and limiting the hours of operation of the economic sector”.

In a statement, the RWG said the change in opening hours will apply to all properties. This includes all of its hotels, food and beverage stores, retail stores, casino and other facilities.
In the meantime, the operator added that some of its offers may not be available during this period. RWG said: “We will continue to fully adhere to the stringent SOPs issued by the Government throughout the resort and we seek the cooperation of our guests to do the same”.
