ICE365’s latest market report shows an increase in eSports betting, with revenues reaching $13 billion in 2020, but there is still the problem of regulation, which has failed to keep pace with such growth.

According to platform analysts, the global eSports audience will increase from $495 million today to $646 million by 2023, and revenue will rise from $7.7 billion in 2017 to $18.5 billion by 2026.

This increase is also confirmed by eSports betting revenue, which will go from US$9 billion in 2019 to about US$13 billion in 2020, registering an increase of 44.4% over the previous year.

William Harding, head of eSports at Clarion Gaming, has a great perspective on the gaming scene, giving the following testimony about the report:

Compared to traditional sports, the growth of sports sports has been astronomical, but as in any significant technology-driven industry, regulation has largely failed to keep pace.

This has created a patchwork of different regulatory models, while some continents lag behind others as they lack the necessary infrastructure to support competitive gaming events. But as this wonderful sector continues its exponential growth, it’s becoming more and more ingrained in popular culture – and gambling operators are taking notice.

In summary, eSport is very hard to ignore. In fact, it’s hard to call it an emerging sector. With this report, ICE365 aims to provide the industry with the intelligence it needs to spot opportunities as they arise.
