The ICE London 2024 schedule was finalized this Thursday (8). Brazil was one of the most reported topics throughout the three-day event at ExCeL London. This is because the country approved the long-awaited regulatory forecasts for sports betting and online gaming in December 2023.
Neil Montgomery, from Montgomery & Associados, cited the importance of this advance for the national industry. “I’ve been coming here for almost a decade and expected a busy atmosphere, but it’s very intense with several lectures. Finally, we arrived at the event with complete development.”
“Because we came with the promise, but nothing concrete. Now, the law has been approved and sanctioned”, he added.
Furthermore, he commented on the new ordinances and regulations. The Ministry of Finance plans to launch at least 12 ordinances in the coming months to define guidelines and rules for the Brazilian market.
“The ordinance that talks about licensing must cause a lot of work for Brazilian lawyers. Not only when setting up companies in Brazil, but also when applying for licenses to operate in the country,” he said.
“This first semester will be very intense for Brazilian lawyers”, he concluded.
