Clarion Gaming completed a program of orientation visits that began in October 2023 with the organizing team responsible for holding the first editions of ICE and iGB Affiliate.
The objective is to gain expertise at Gran Via Barcelona, participating in the Mobile World Congress (MWC), with 2,400 exhibitors. This is because the international event celebrated its 18th year at the location.
Clarion Gaming has the experience of how to develop a great event
The initiative provided the Clarion team, together with several customers, the opportunity to learn about how Gran Via Barcelona carries out what is the biggest and most influential event for the connectivity ecosystem.
Thus, the event is able to attract the main mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology suppliers, vendors and content owners in the global industry.
As Clarion Gaming’s Managing Director, Stuart Hunter, stated: “Mobile World Congress was moved to Gran Via Barcelona in 2006, at a time when it was similar in size to the current ICE and iGB Affiliate.
Since then, it has developed and grown, occupying more than 220,000 square meters in eight interconnected pavilions. In what is one of the largest and most modern venues in Europe.
Like ICE/iGB Affiliate, the MWC brings together tens of thousands of senior executives from leading global companies, international regulators and pioneering technology companies to do business, make policy decisions and chart the future of the industry.”
2025 event will be great
In this context, it was invaluable for the team to gain a “behind the scenes” view into how the MWC brand maximizes the enormous opportunities provided by the site’s interconnected spaces.”
Hunter added: “In addition to the specific operational issues relating to the venue, the team was also able to replicate the visitor experience. This includes the travel infrastructure linking Fira Gran Via to Barcelona’s El Prat International Airport (12km away) ) to the historic city center (3 km away), thanks to the integrated metro station.
“We look forward to continuing our series of orientation events throughout the year and engaging our entire community.”
ICE/iGBA 2025 will use around 120,000 square meters of Gran Via (ICE 2024 used 100,000 gross m2 in London) in pavilions 1 (iGB Affiliate) and 2-6 (ICE).
Therefore, during the five-year lease period, ICE/iGBA will have exclusivity on an additional 160,000 m² reserved for it. The Convention Center, located in pavilion 8, is a modular and versatile space with capacity for 3,000 to 12,000 people.
