23 bookmakers have already started the licensing process with the Ministry of Treasury

The Ministry of Treasury has already received 23 requests from sports betting and online gaming companies interested in obtaining a license to operate legally in Brazil.

With the deadline approaching on August 20th, these bookmakers are racing against time to guarantee their operations from January 1st, 2025.

The Betting Management System (Sigap) registered only five companies until last month. But with the deadline approaching, 17 new companies applied for authorization in August, including Betano, Superbet and Betfair.

The regulation aims to formalize the online betting market, guaranteeing significant revenue for the government and job creation.

The sports betting sector has grown rapidly since legalization in December 2018, reflecting its importance to the national economy. So, the Treasury is managing requests, ensuring that companies comply with legal requirements to operate in the country.

It is worth noting that the first licenses should be announced later this year, allowing companies to enter into compliance with Brazilian standards in 2025.
