SIGAP’s final list has 113 requests from companies to operate in the Brazilian betting market

Lista final do SIGAP conta com 113 pedidos de empresas para atuar no mercado brasileiro de apostas

The deadline for applying for a license to operate sports betting and online gaming in Brazil ended this Tuesday (20). Thus, the final list of the Betting Management System (SIGAP) included 113 requests from companies interested in operating in the regulated market from January 1, 2025.

The expectation is that the Federal Government will raise more than R$3 billion. Among the rules established by the Ministry of Finance, one of them is the payment of a grant of R$30 million. Approved operators will be able to have up to three betting platforms valid for five years.

“Anyone who requests authorization today may be released to operate in Brazil from January 1, 2025, when the regulated betting market in Brazil begins to operate. Anyone who makes the request (in SIGAP) from this Wednesday (21/08) will receive authorization later”, informed the Ministry of Treasury, in a note.

However, it is worth noting that for companies to obtain a license to operate in Brazil, it is necessary to comply with criteria of legal qualification, tax and labor regularity, suitability, economic-financial qualification and technical qualification.

According to the Treasury, the requirements were defined to provide guarantees to bettors and ensure that authorized betting houses have a corporate governance structure “compatible with the complexity, specificity and risks of the business”.
