The National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) released a statement calling Law 1,475 “right” and highlighting the need for a reporting mechanism for illegal platforms.

Ordinance 1,475 determines that betting houses that have not presented a license to the Ministry of Finance before September 17th will cease operations from October 1st. Regis Dudena, secretary of Prizes and Bets, signed the ordinance.

“The decision to set a period for bookmakers to adapt to federal regulations from October 1st is correct. This will prevent, more immediately, the actions of irresponsible operators, uncommitted to the ongoing regulatory process”, says a note from ANJL.

Therefore, the entity highlights that this measure will quickly prevent the actions of those who operate without authorization and influence the current system.

ANJL highlights the need for reporting mechanisms

ANJL emphasizes that “It is of great importance for Brazilian society that, from the adaptation period onwards, not only are illegal platforms blocked but there are reporting mechanisms”.

“The objective is to allow anyone to make reports as soon as they identify the operation of illegal platforms. It is not yet clear whether the government will implement any channel to facilitate this type of reporting.”

So, with this positioning, ANJL joins the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR), which also expressed support for Law 1,475. This collaboration demonstrates a joint effort to create a safer and more regulated gaming environment in Brazil.

On September 7th, the National Games and Lotteries Association officially joined the Business Leaders Group (Lide). The partnership strengthens the sports betting sector, which faces ongoing challenges in Brazil. João Dória, president of Lide and former governor of São Paulo, welcomed ANJL to the group.
