How to participate in Mega-Sena
Bets for Mega-Sena can be placed until 7pm (Brasília time), either at any lottery in the country or through the Caixa Econômica Federal website, accessible via cell phone, computer or other devices.
To place a bet, you must register and be of legal age (18 years or older), as well as fill in your credit card number for payment.
The probability of winning in each contest varies according to the number of tens played and the type of bet made.
A simple bet, containing just six tens and costing R$5, has a winning probability of 1 in 50,063,860, according to information provided by Caixa.
On the other hand, a bet with a maximum of 15 tens, costing R$22,522.50, has a probability of hitting the prize of 1 in 10,003, according to data provided by the same source.
How the draw works
Mega-Sena rewards those who match the six numbers drawn. However, it is still possible to win prizes by matching 4 or 5 numbers out of the 60 available on the betting wheel.
To compete for the millionaire prize, you must select 6 to 20 numbers from the betting sheet, and you can choose to let the system choose the numbers using the “Surpresinha”.
Furthermore, players have the option of competing with the same bet in 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 12 consecutive contests through the “Teimosinha” feature.
