The Southampton Football Club is supporting the launch of RecoverMe, a brand new health app that empowers individuals to manage gambling addiction.
The club will contribute significantly to help the application grow, developed by three doctors in order to make treatment options more accessible.
Although the club recognizes that betting can be part of the fun of the football fan, it also believes that it has a responsibility to raise awareness of the support available.
The RecoverMe app supports problem gamblers by encouraging them to seek help by providing a discreet support option with the aim of preventing gambling-related damage across the country.
The application’s multiple support functions, centered on scientifically supported cognitive-behavioral therapy, allow its users to manage their addiction by reflecting on their gaming habits, accessing mindfulness sessions, as well as having access to an emergency helpline.
The design, structure and personalized features of the app were developed in consultation with psychiatrists, psychologists and those who struggle with gambling addiction to ensure that the platform is as effective as possible.
Football club will help in the development of RecoverMe
Support for RecoverMe represents the most recent step taken by the club to promote responsible gambling, building strong relationships with organizations that are at the forefront of helping those struggling with gambling addiction.
It is also evidence of the club’s commitment to promoting safe games on both official and regular match days. Therefore, the club’s investment will be used to finance the development of the app.
Southampton commercial director David Thomas said: “I am pleased to announce the club’s support for RecoverMe. The club takes the responsibility to promote responsible gambling seriously and it is important that we are proactive in exploring new opportunities to implement our commitment to the cause ”.
RecoverMe co-founder Minal Jain commented: “We sincerely believe that RecoverMe will provide a lifeline for those who suffer in silence. It has been amazing to see how motivated Southampton is to create this significant change and we are extremely excited to be working with them to do that ”.
