The province of Corrientes, in Argentina, released, through Resolution No. 0615-I, the rules for the online market, covering online betting, horse racing, online casinos, live casino, bingo and virtual games.

The Institute of Lotteries and Casinos (ILCC) will be responsible for supervising companies in the segment with a view to complying with the Basic Rules for Games and Bets.

The measure, from December 3 of last year, but published in the Official Gazette of Corrientes only on March 3 of this year, determines that if an international operator wants to receive authorization, it needs to be in accordance with the terms of the Temporary Union of Companies (UTE) with a national company.

They must also prove through documentation that they have the financial, technical and experience to operate in the local gaming market. In addition, the measure requires that family members of ILLC employees and people convicted or suspected of money laundering will not be able to apply for a license.

Operators must have a fixed address in the province of Argentina

Authorized companies need to “develop their activity in Corrientes”, in addition to having a fixed address in the region, show on the official website that they have an ILLC license and “collaborate with the State to detect and eradicate illegal gambling, fraud and crime”, among other requirements.

With regard to advertising, the ILCC should also release requests for the promotion of games. The agency will check whether betting companies are complying with all rules, such as not sending content to minors or whether messages contain misleading information.

“Online gambling will be carried out based on a comprehensive social responsibility policy that considers gambling to be a complex phenomenon, combining preventive actions and good practices”, as stated in the regulations of the province of Argentina.

The regulator also stipulates that operators have to offer a function to allow bettors to limit themselves, ask for their exclusion for a period or permanently, in addition to having a complaints channel. While the ILCC “will be in charge of the Self-Exclusion Registration in electronic format”, which will be linked to the registration of players.
