After the publication by the Dutch Gaming Authority (KSA) of its new enforcement policy, Betsson’s operating subsidiaries decided to no longer accept Dutch customers on their international websites.

Operators say they have always committed to making the necessary adjustments to match the regulator’s channeling objectives, as well as putting themselves in a good position for the Dutch licensing process.

Pontus Lindwall, CEO and President of Betsson AB, commented: “Compliance with laws, rules and ethical standards in the countries in which we operate is a foundation for Betsson.”

“We have a strong belief in the Dutch market and we have a clear ambition to operate under the new Dutch regulatory framework in the future, enabling us to once again offer Dutch customers an excellent and sustainable experience.”

Kindred Group has also made the decision to cease any services for Dutch users, as the group’s aim is to receive approval for its Dutch license.

The decision is considered temporary since, according to Kindred, Minister Sander Dekker’s letter does not explicitly ask operators to cease services in the Dutch market as long as the criteria published in 2019 are followed.

As the group awaits further clarification, its CEO, Henrik Tjärnström, argued: “We are looking forward to receiving our Dutch license during 2022, and thus contributing positively to Dutch society as a valuable expert in achieving a sustainable gambling market.”

“We have always placed a safe gaming environment at the heart of our strategy and operations, and we have already fulfilled, as far as possible, all Dutch license requirements,” concludes Tjärnström.
