Finnish state gaming operator Veikkaus has signed two cooperation agreements that will increase sponsorship for local football clubs. The company revealed that it has joined forces with the Finnish Football Association as well as Veikkausliiga. With this, each of the cooperation agreements lasts for 3 years and will seek to expand support for football in the country.
The terms of the new agreements cover the men’s National League teams, Kakkonen and Ykkönen. Men’s and women’s futsal league clubs and Finland Cup matches are also included in this new contract. Veikkaus said the new partnerships will help to significantly increase the financial compensation paid to clubs.
“Veikkaus is a significant and long-term partner in national football,” said Ari Lahti, president of the Finnish Football Association.
Lahti added that joining forces with Veikkaus will result in greater benefits for clubs in Finland. Veikkausliiga president Kaarlo Kankkunen acknowledged that the new agreements will help develop the concept of responsible gaming. In addition, he stressed that collaboration will help all clubs involved receive direct support.
