W88 signs season-long sponsorship of Premier League side Burnley

W88 has partnered with Burnley in what is the brand’s fifth sponsorship deal with an English Premier League club. The one-year contract will cover the 2023-24 season, with the brand appearing on the front of players’ shirts. This will cover both the men’s and women’s core teams.

The Asia-focused betting operator will also benefit from its brand presence around the Turf Moor stadium and on the team’s digital channels. In addition, W88 will support Burnley with community projects and initiatives, involving fans and assisting with charitable activities.

Burnley will play in the 2023-24 Premier League after securing promotion from Division Two last season. “As a newly promoted club, a partnership like this plays a significant role in helping us compete in the Premier League,” said Burnley director Stuart Hunt.

“W88 has established successful relationships with numerous Premier League clubs and sports brands around the world. We were impressed with their experience, knowledge and proactive nature in this area,” added Hunt.

W88 Business Development Manager Hilly Ehrlich added: “We are delighted to be partnering with Burnley when the team returns to the Premier League.”

Burnley is the fifth English club to sign W88

Burnley become the fifth Premier League club to sign a shirt sponsorship deal with W88. The brand has previously partnered with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and, most recently, Fulham.

Premier League sponsorship ban

The deal comes after the Premier League announced in April that clubs had agreed to stop sponsoring shirt bookmakers. The withdrawal of sponsorships will take effect from the end of the 2025-26 season.

Carrier deals, whether existing partnerships or new agreements, may remain in effect until that date. Burnley’s contract with W88 is expected to last for a single season.

Earlier this month, Aston Villa agreed a sponsorship deal with Asia-focused operator BK8. The deal will run until the end of the 2025-26 season, coinciding with the introduction of the ban.

Newcastle United opted to modify their agreement with offshore operator Fun88. The brand has served as a key partner since the 2017-18 season, but will now focus on driving the club’s growth in Asia.
