Senator Jorge Kajuru (PSB-GO) took a significant initiative last Saturday (11), sending an informative note to the presidents of the 40 main football clubs in Brazil. This release addresses recent progress on the sports betting bill.
“It is essential that clubs are aware of the changes that are coming,” said Kajuru. Approved by the Sports Commission (Cesp) last week, the project now goes for analysis by the Economic Affairs Commission (CAE) and, subsequently, for a vote in the Plenary.

Kajuru, in collaboration with Senator Angelo Coronel (PSD-BA), will be responsible for the final report and the decisive vote on the Bill. “This is a responsibility that we take very seriously”, commented Coronel.
This agreement was reached with the support of influential senators such as Romário (PL-RJ), Carlos Portinho (PL-RJ), Leila do Vôlei (PDT – DF), Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE), Nelsinho Trad (PSD-MS) and Sérgio Petecão (PSD-AC).
Kajuru highlighted: “Our intention is to ensure the well-being of Brazilian football, avoiding the loss of credibility. We are particularly concerned about match-fixing in online gambling. Our commitment is to debate this issue in a democratic and transparent way.”
Betting advertising, protection measures and Kajuru statement
The senator also clarified that advertising from betting companies will continue to be broadcast freely, without time restrictions in the media.
“Advertising is vital for club financing”, highlighted Kajuru. This decision includes maintaining advertising on football club shirts, an important source of revenue for many teams.
In addition, it was agreed to implement security measures, such as facial recognition for all bettors. “These measures are essential to guarantee the integrity of the sport,” said Coronel.
