Rapper Drake lost $300,000 on a bet on Canada winning the Copa América against Argentina. Therefore, the Argentine team responded to the rapper with a reference to Kendrick Lamar.
On Tuesday (9), Canadian artist Drake revealed on social media his $300,000 bet on Canada’s victory.
With an odds of 9.60, Drake could have won around 2.8 million dollars. However, the result was different from what was expected. Canada lost to Argentina 2-0, guaranteeing the Argentines a place in the Copa América final.
Drake’s provocations to Messi
Drake referenced Lionel Messi in the post, writing “This could get Messi”, a pun on the word “messy”, which means “confused” or “dirty”. Drake’s bet generated great expectations among fans, but it was not enough to guarantee the Canadian victory.
The Argentine team, which beat Canada and secured a place in the Copa América final, responded to Drake in a provocative way. On Wednesday, the South American team shared on the social network X, formerly Twitter, an image of the players with the phrase “Not like us”.
That’s because the phrase is the title of a song by Kendrick Lamar, which criticizes Drake and intensifies the rivalry between the two musicians.
In recent months, Drake and Kendrick Lamar have been exchanging criticisms of their music. Kendrick Lamar’s song “Not Like Us,” released in March, includes several accusations against Drake. The Argentine team’s response used this musical rivalry to provoke the rapper after winning the Copa América 2024.
The match between Argentina and Canada was played on Tuesday night, with Argentina winning 2 x 0. Thus, the Copa América final will be held on Sunday (14), starting at 9 pm (Brasília time).
While the other place will be played this Wednesday between Uruguay and Colombia, at 9pm.
