Around 94% of sports betting deposits made by Brazilians between January and February were up to R$100. The figures cover the first two months of 2025, the first year with the market fully regulated in Brazil.

On the other hand, transactions with a higher financial volume represent only 1.4% of the total. This percentage refers to bets that exceed R$1,000. However, those above R$2,500 corresponded to an even smaller percentage, representing less than 0.3%.

The unprecedented survey is from Pay4Fun, based on transactions carried out at online betting houses intermediated by the company, such as Bet365 and Blaze.

Pix dominates the payment method for bets

Pix is, by far, the most widely used payment method by online bettors in Brazil. According to research released by Pay4Fun, the first payment institution operating in the entertainment and sports betting segment to be authorized by the Central Bank of Brazil (Bacen), the instant payment system accounts for 96.72% of transactions carried out on betting platforms from January to December 2024.

The data shows that the other payment methods have a much lower adoption rate. Electronic wallets account for only 1.47% of transactions, followed by bank transfers, with 1.36%, and bank slips, which represent 0.45%.

Return on the amount wagered

In another study, this one carried out by the Central Bank (BC), the numbers indicate that the return rate is surprising. According to the president of the BC, Gabriel Galípolo, the previous data underestimated the amount paid as prizes by betting houses.

The initial estimate was that 85% of the amounts wagered were returned to the players, but the most recent government data indicate that this rate is closer to 93%.
