FDJ Announces to Sponsor 100 Amateur Soccer Clubs in France

ParionsSport, the sports betting brand of Française des Jeux (FDJ), has announced that it will sponsor 100 amateur soccer clubs across France over the next year.

Teams will receive a complete set of equipment, including 30 kits that can be customized with colors and logos. Clubs will also be supported throughout the season, with news on ParionsSport channels.

The teams, which include men’s and women’s teams, were selected from more than 3,700 entries, with a minimum of five chosen in each region of the country.

The selection committee was composed of Smaïl Bouabdellah, commentator for BeIn Sports and the ParionsSport ambassador, as well as professional soccer players, the social development agency Fondaction du Football and FDJ.

“In addition to the FDJ’s commitments to professional sport, the group continues with its roots in amateur football. With more than 28,000 points of sale across France, it is natural for ParionsSport to become a sponsor of amateur football clubs, ”the official statement said.

After all, the Française des Jeux has supported French sport for more than 40 years and is an official partner of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Recently, the company has extended agreements with two of France’s biggest football clubs, Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique de Marseille.

In addition, the FDJ is the NBA’s exclusive sports betting partner in France, through the ParionsSport brand.

FDJ announced drop in business due to pandemic

The company announced last month a decline in betting of 18.4% during the first half due to the impact of the new coronavirus pandemic.

Revenue in the period fell 10% to € 849 million. Until France entered a lockdown on March 16, holdings had increased by 5%, before dropping by 60% in the following two months.

In sports betting – whose values were adjusted to reflect the contribution of Sporting Group, acquired in June 2019 – holdings fell 38.8%, in the period when the calendar was interrupted by Covid-19.

France’s football season also ended prematurely in April, with no league action until September.
