The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) and the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) signed a “Memorandum of Understanding” with the aim of promoting measures both in markets with properly regulated bets and to preserve sporting integrity.
The two organizations, which represent some of the largest regulated sports betting operators in the world, will seamlessly coordinate their activities in consolidated and emerging markets.
Brigid Simmonds, the president of BGC, said: “We are pleased to announce this new partnership, which will help us to lead the betting industry internationally. IBIA plays a decisive role in ensuring that sports betting markets are properly regulated and that sporting integrity is at the heart of its action ”.
Simmonds added: “BGC will fully dedicate itself to this effort and will bring its experience in promoting world-class standards in the new sports betting markets”.
Khalid Ali, the CEO of IBIA, also spoke publicly about the sealed agreement between the two entities. “Our associations are active internationally and in many of the same markets, share some members and have the same regulatory goals,” he said.
In addition, the CEO of IBIA said that this mutual collaboration has already been successful in the national market. “We have already collaborated in markets like Brazil and it was a natural progression towards a more formal and structured relationship. The purpose of our combined association puts us in a prominent position to speak on behalf of a large part of the regulated sector and lawmakers welcome this level of industry involvement, ”he concluded.
