Payments company AstroPay, which works closely with the gaming industry, has partnered with another Premier League football team, the Wolverhampton Wanderers.
This agreement represents the company’s second partnership with an English first division team, as AstroPay has already signed with Burnley this season. This success allowed the brand to gain prominence in the first rounds of the competition. The new cooperation offers “global brand visibility and dissemination of AstroPay messages among sports fans worldwide”.
Astropay CEO celebrates deal with another Premier League club
“Like many football fans in the UK, we are excited to start the new season of the most watched football league in the world. The Premier League has always been very competitive, popular and global, which allows brands to use the event as the perfect vehicle to increase brand awareness, interest and revenue,” said Mikael Lijtenstein, CEO of AstroPay.
Lijtenstein added: “We are excited to start our new partnership with Wolves. It is an ambitious club with an exciting development that matches the global spirit of AstroPay”.
Wolves General Manager of Marketing and Business Growth Russell Jones also spoke of the agreement: “We are thrilled to be working alongside AstroPay as we welcome the brand into our family in what promises to be a truly exciting Premier League season.” .
Another recent sports sponsorship deal, tied even more directly to the gaming and betting industry, involved the 32Red and Unibet brands owned by the Kindred Group in a partnership with the Vanarama National League.
This means that sponsorships between bookmakers and football clubs continue to be signed, despite complaints from some sectors. While these complaints have diminished recently, it remains to be seen how the UK government’s review of gaming laws will address this issue.
