Marlon Tseng, from Pagsmile, says that BiS 2021 will help unveil the betting market in Brazil

With just a few days to go before the Brazilian iGaming Summit (BiS) – The iGaming Intelligence Made in Brazil – sports betting and iGaming players are increasingly engaged and eager to meet again in person to debate the future of one of the most promising markets in Brazil world industry.

The first edition of the event will take place on December 1st and 2nd this year in São Paulo. The place chosen to receive the complete BiS 2021 agenda was Espaço Boulevard JK, International Plaza Building, located in São Paulo.

The main objective is to provide relevant and up-to-date information for companies all over the planet about regulations in the country, market structuring and new trends. Thus, the convention will feature the participation of figures linked to the government, businessmen and personalities in the field.

The list of confirmed brands includes companies from various sectors linked to the world of betting. One of them is the payment method company Pagsmile. The company’s general manager, Marlon Tseng, reported his expectations to return to face-to-face events.

“Expectations are high, as we understand the importance of face-to-face events for the gambling market. As much as digital is an integral and important part of new forms of business, face-to-face allows for greater interaction and connection with each other. We are excited to meet partners, friends and customers outside the digital environment.”

Advancement of regulation in Brazil

For Tseng, BiS 2021 will be crucial to highlight players who work in a serious way. “It is necessary to unveil the gambling market in Brazil, and highlight the companies that operate in the field in a serious and judicious manner. An event like BiS highlights the theme, enabling not only the network, but the discussion about and the need to modernize regulation in the sector, in order to follow the global trend and the growing technological innovation in the world of online games”.

The Pagsmile executive also assessed the progress of the regulatory process for the industry in the country: “There is still a long way to go in this field. Brazilian legislation has not kept up with world demand and supply in the sector, and needs to be revamped. This is reinforced by the need to delimit the rules and procedures for an ever-expanding field, allowing for greater security for users”.

Therefore, he highlighted that the only in-person betting event in Brazil this year favors the exchange of information and demonstrates the strength of the sector. “The event allows for the exchange of information, supply and demand, and the problems faced. Allows to demonstrate the growing search for virtual games and the control network. In addition, events of this size help to demystify several issues that encompass the gaming world”.

Marlon Tseng details Pagsmile’s plans

According to Tseng, Pagsmile currently has several customers in the segments of “mobile games, PC, e-commerce, fintechs, PSP and entertainment. The office is located at Alameda Santos 1773, we started operating in 2017 and today we have more than 40 people in Brazil and 75 people in China, in Beijing, at our headquarters”.

Furthermore, he revealed what is driving Pagsmile’s entry into the betting market. “We are a company that operates in the field of payment intermediation, specialized in games. We understand the growing demand in online gaming for sports betting, and we believe in the need for constant dialogue and regulatory updates to keep pace with global innovation.”

Marlon Tseng also stressed that Brazilian consumers are very interested in news related to the payment sector. “Brazilians are interested in innovation, and seek to keep up to date with the best and newest on the market. For this reason, the discussion and regulation of the sector is so important, which will definitely be a big step with BIS.”

Finally, Tseng added that the company projects its business as an eWallet to grow in other areas, such as “in the e-commerce and marketplace markets”.
