Kindred Group announces decline in problem gambling revenue in the first quarter of the year

Kindred Group reported that problematic game revenue dropped to 3% in the first quarter of 2023. The company’s goal is to eventually get 0% of harmful game revenue, but the actual number has been fluctuating around 3%, rising slightly and falling again, for some time now.

After an intervention by Kindred‘s customer service and responsible gaming teams during the quarter, 83% of detected customers reported improved gaming behavior.

Effects of automated technological solutions, such as identifying and interacting with customers who are at risk through automated interventions, exhibited favorable results.

In Q4 2022, high risk gamblers accounted for 3.3% of gross earnings and the enhanced effect after interventions was 82.1%. The third quarter figures were 3.8% and 82.6%, respectively.

Henrik Tjärnström, CEO of Kindred Group, said: “To prevent harmful behavior, early intervention is key and I am happy that we are able to see the result of the implementation of automated interventions that we have done in some of our markets.”

“I look forward to pursuing the holistic approach and collaboration across Kindred’s different teams. Responsible gaming is not just a factor for one team, but is something each employee contributes to through their knowledge and commitment to reducing harmful revenue ”.

“With our technology teams working hand-in-hand with our responsible gaming and customer-facing teams, we are able to quickly release enhanced interventions across different markets.”

Meanwhile, Kindred recently opened its retail store at the Swinomish Casino & Lodge in Washington. A six-year agreement with the Swinomish Indigenous Community was announced in October 2022.
