MGM Rewards and Marriott Announce New Loyalty Partnership

The world’s largest hotel loyalty program is betting big with the announcement of a 20-year partnership with MGM Rewards.

Marriott Bonvoy, with more than 180 million active members and nearly 9,000 properties worldwide, will expand further with the addition of 17 new MGM-branded resorts and casinos to its portfolio this fall.

The news comes just days after World of Hyatt and MGM Rewards ended their partnership, which will end reciprocal member benefits on September 30, 2023.

The new agreement was signed on July 17, 2023 between the two major loyalty programs.

Members will be able to book select properties on the Marriott and MGM websites when the partnership officially launches in October 2023, and the remaining hotels will be fully integrated by the end of the year.

17 new MGM hotels will join Marriott Bonvoy

While the exact details are still under wraps, we know that four MGM hotels and resorts will join Marriott Bonvoy’s existing hotel collections:

  • Bellagio Resort & Casino: The Luxury Collection;
  • ARIA Resort & Casino: Autograph Collection;
  • Park MGM: Tribute Portfolio;
  • The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas: Autograph Collection

Eight MGM Las Vegas resorts will join the “MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy”, a new collection created specifically for this partnership.

These eight properties include Vdara Hotel & Spa, MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, NoMad Las Vegas, The Signature at MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, New York-New York Hotel & Casino, Luxor Hotel and Casino and Excalibur Hotel & Casino .

Off the Strip, five MGM resorts will also join this new collection, including the Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey; Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi; MGM Grand Detroit in Michigan; MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland; and MGM Springfield in Massachusetts.

Members will enjoy MGM Rewards loyalty benefits

With MGM’s previous partnership with World of Hyatt, Hyatt members could match their status to MGM Rewards Gold, in addition to earning elite nights and points on stays at MGM.

Under the new agreement, MGM Rewards members “will be able to link their accounts to Marriott Bonvoy and receive select membership benefits, [while] Marriott Bonvoy members … will be able to earn and redeem points for stays at all MGM Collection properties with Marriott. Bonvoy,” according to a Marriott press release.

As this collection does not launch until October 2023, the reciprocal loyalty benefits are not yet clear for MGM Rewards and Marriott Bonvoy members.

However, members can expect to receive more information in the coming months leading up to the official launch of the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy.

“This is a very robust relationship, it’s not just a typical franchise agreement,” said Tony Capuano, president and CEO of Marriott International, Inc., at a July 17 virtual press conference.

“This is really illustrated by the creation of the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy.”

“This is a relationship that allows us to take full advantage of the breadth of entertainment, culinary and sports offerings that MGM enjoys and, in turn, allows MGM and its loyalty members to take full advantage of our global portfolio.” said Capuano.

It looks like the relationship between Marriott Bonvoy and MGM Rewards will be much more integrated than the previous partnership with World of Hyatt, so members can look forward to equal status opportunities, elite nights, extra points and much more.
