Caixa Econômica Federal is preparing the relaunch of Lotex, popularly known as “scratch card”, for the first half of 2024. With ambitious projections, the institution plans to raise between R$1.5 billion and R$2 billion over the next two years.
Internally, Caixa Econômica Federal assesses that revenue expectations are conservative. Around 65% of the expected amount, approximately R$1 billion, will go towards prizes.
Lucíola Vasconcelos, president of Caixa Loterias, highlights that this amount is significantly higher than what was historically paid.
In December 2023, the Ministry of Finance authorized the resumption of Lotex by Caixa Econômica Federal. Bet prices will vary between R$2.50 and R$20, with prizes that can reach up to R$250,000 for the most affordable tickets, and R$2 million for a single game.
In the previous period, ticket sales occurred between R$0.50 and R$2, while now the prizes have increased considerably. Previously, the maximum amount was R$600 thousand. Players will be able to place their bets both at lottery outlets and virtually, through a simulator.
Redeem Caixa scratch card prizes
It is important to highlight that prizes of up to R$2,259 can be redeemed directly in the lotteries, while higher amounts will require the winner to go to a Caixa Econômica branch.
However, the bank is considering the possibility of allowing online redemption, aiming to offer greater convenience to bettors.
Therefore, with a wide range of values and the possibility of online redemption, Caixa’s new scratch card presents itself as an attractive option for lottery game fans across the country.
Tax
The new rules for collecting scratch cards include specific destinations, such as social security, the Ministry of Sports, the National Culture Fund, among others. This change significantly alters the management and distribution of Lotex’s resources.
