The São Paulo Justice Court decided to block access to 15 online betting sites. According to the records, the public civil action was filed by the Association in Defense of Games and Betting (Adeja), which points out that the defendants act in mediating the financial flow of unlicensed betting sites in the national territory.
Furthermore, those involved receive amounts from users and allocate them to the platforms. According to the Uol article, the companies mentioned chose not to speak out publicly. So far, the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) has also not commented.
Court decision on online betting platforms
“The 35th Civil Court of the Capital determined, in a preliminary decision, the blocking of access to 15 websites linked to virtual gambling, ordering the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) to take the necessary measures with the internet providers”, informed the São Paulo Court of Justice (TJSP).
“In the decision, judge Gustavo Henrique Bretas Marzagão highlighted the notorious negative effects that slot-type games, hosted on clandestine and unauditable websites, have caused,” said the TJSP.
“The facts narrated in the initial statement and the documents that accompany it demonstrate the verisimilitude of the plaintiff’s allegations regarding the defendants’ participation in the damages suffered by the community, insofar as, as intermediaries in the financial flow, they cause the money paid by the user reach the accounts of the betting site owners”, stated Bretas.
According to the TJSP, the parties involved can still appeal the decision.
