Land-based casinos were banned in Brazil in April 1946, but this situation has never been so close to being reversed, thanks to the bill known as Casinos PL, already approved in the Chamber of Deputies and awaiting a vote in the Senate Plenary. The expectation is that the project will be evaluated later this year.
The approval of this proposal in Congress would help one of the main references in the global iGaming market to realize one of his professional dreams: building a land-based casino in Brazil. This was the revelation of Stephen Crystal, founder and CEO of SCCG Management, in an exclusive interview during the SBC Summit Lisboa.
“I started in the industry 35 years ago, building casinos, riverboat casinos, indigenous casinos in America, and it was always my dream, one day, to build a casino in Brazil,” he said.
He added: “I think we’re closer than ever to this becoming a reality. I’m looking forward to finishing my career either building a casino or partnering in Brazil for a land-based casino.”
Furthermore, Stephen Crystal made a point of confirming his presence at the next edition of BiS SiGMA Américas, as well as praising the event being held on Portuguese soil. “Lisbon is an emerging city in Europe. They maintained the energy and the large audience. It was a great event for networking and meeting suppliers and brands”, he concluded.
