Fast Track is proud to announce that it has introduced Paid Menstrual Leave at its offices in Malta, Sweden, Spain and the United States, reflecting the organization’s commitment to female employee well-being.

This policy aims to recognize and address the impacts of menstrual and menopause-related health in the workplace, promoting inclusion and support.

Great Place to Work® Certification

Historically, workplaces have been slow to recognize the challenges associated with menstrual health. It can even affect women’s ability to perform their roles in the best way possible.

So by implementing menstrual leave, the company not only addresses a real need, but also sets a standard for other employers to prioritize empathy, inclusivity and flexibility.

Fast Track’s efforts go beyond this policy, with initiatives like the female mentorship pilot program with Signe, a women-only ESG group. In other words, the company will launch a series of new programs in 2025.

That’s why they recently certified Fast Track as a Great Place to Work® in the technology sector for the third year in a row.

“How we feel affects our performance at work, influences the work environment and impacts our colleagues,” says Jenny Arnell, Chief People Officer at Fast Track.

“Therefore, it makes a lot of sense for employers to seek to raise awareness and normalize discussions around issues related to the menstrual cycle and menopause. As these situations can affect us directly or indirectly, so to ensure adequate support, appropriate adjustments can be made to the work environment”, he adds.

She adds, “Imagine how different our work experience would be if it were as normal to talk about how our bodies and minds influence our moods and ability to work as it is to talk about the weather. Our reproductive systems are as normal as the weather, but we treat these topics as something ‘private’.”

Fast Track and commitment to employee well-being

The decision follows a growing global conversation about reproductive health and its effects on work. Spain, currently, was the first European country to adopt a Menstrual Leave policy in February 2023.

Fast Track sees this as a significant step in creating equitable opportunities and promoting health and inclusion in the workplace.

Ellinor Otter, Women’s Wellbeing and Empowerment coach, comments: “Menstrual health is often overlooked in professional spaces, despite impacting millions of women daily. So with a policy like Menstrual Leave it’s a simple but powerful way to affirm that employees are valued.”

“In this way, the company recognizes the needs of the female public and shows that their health is a priority. This empowers women to listen to their bodies without shame or fear for simply being women, creating a culture of understanding and support.”

Ellinor Otter led a webinar with the Fast Track team, providing valuable insights and advice on managing menstruation, empowering employees to approach these conversations with openness and understanding.
