Casinos in Chile faced a challenging year in 2024. According to the Superintendency of Gaming Casinos (SCJ), gross revenues reached CLP 554,537 million, which is equivalent to 588.2 million dollars. This value represented a drop of 4.5% compared to the previous year, as highlighted by SCJ in a statement.
In 2024, 6,775,026 people visited the country’s casinos, a number that represented a reduction of 4.8% compared to 2023. Thus, the average expenditure per visitor was CLP 78,496, reflecting a contraction of 3.3% in real terms.
The SCJ reaffirmed that the decrease in income translated into lower revenue for public coffers.
Tax impact
With regard to tax contributions, the 22 casinos regulated by Law 19,995 injected CLP 196,833 million (208.7 million dollars) in taxes to the State. This amount represented a reduction of 4% in real terms.
Among the contributions, CLP 85,117 million went to the Specific Gaming Tax, divided equally between regional governments and municipalities to finance public works.
Furthermore, the Value Added Tax (VAT), related to gaming revenue, totaled CLP 82,257 million, and the Entrance Tax to Gaming Rooms totaled CLP 29,459 million, directed to the nation’s general fund.

Performance of top casinos
At the individual level, Casino Monticello de Dreams led in contributions, totaling CLP 40,762.8 million (43.2 million dollars). It was followed by Enjoy Viña del Mar, which contributed CLP 21,819.8 million (23.1 million dollars). Other establishments such as Marina del Sol Talcahuano and Enjoy Santiago also stood out.
Enjoy Viña del Mar was again one of the main contributors, with CLP 31,112.3 million (around 33 million dollars), followed by other relevant casinos such as Enjoy Coquimbo and Enjoy Pucón.
This scenario highlighted the importance of casinos in the local economy, despite the downturn. The SCJ highlighted that contributions are processed by the General Treasury of the Republic and distributed later.
