The Brazilian Betting and Fantasy Sports Association (ABFS) has asked the Prizes and Betting Secretariat, linked to the Ministry of Treasury, that the government implement a plan to integrate legalized bets into mobile apps.

In addition to simplifying access to bets and allowing more efficient control over spending, companies highlight that applications can help combat the illegal market.

A document sent to the Treasury details how the applications hinder the operation of “mirror sites”, that is, blocked platforms that operate on alternative domains to evade restrictions.

Betting security and trust in applications

The text explains: “By allowing licensed operators to make their applications available in official stores, such as Google Play and Apple Store, a clear distinction is created between legal and illegal services.

Users can trust the legitimacy of available apps, as stores require proof of licensing.”

However, ABFS highlights that the large companies responsible for the app stores have not yet adapted their policies to facilitate the entry of these betting apps into Brazil.

Mobile market growth

The association notes that the use of mobile devices for betting is a growing global trend. Currently, more than 70% of online betting revenue globally comes from mobile phones and tablets, marking a significant increase of 20 percentage points since 2020.

By improving the regulation and promotion of betting apps, ABFS believes that Brazil can make significant progress in controlling and legalizing this market.

About ABFS

The Brazilian Betting and Fantasy Sport Association (ABFS), created in 2022, has consolidated itself as the main representative of the fantasy sports sector in Brazil, working to regulate and expand the segment.

Currently, the entity promotes a transparent and safe betting and gaming market, based on Laws 13,756/18 and 14,790/23, which recognized fantasy sport as an electronic skill sport.

Furthermore, ABFS fosters technological innovations and dialogue between players, operators and regulatory bodies, ensuring consumer protection and sporting integrity.

In this way, it has driven economic growth in the sector, attracting national and international investments. Finally, it leads responsible gaming initiatives, aligning entertainment with ethical and sustainable practices.
